Completion requirement
Complete ALL of the following Course Sets:
  1. English must be taken each semester, except the summer, until this requirement is completed. ENGL 1010-ENGL 1020 may not be dropped. Correspondence credit in ENGL 1010-ENGL 1020 will not be accepted.

  2. The prerequisite for ENGL 1020 is a grade of C or better in ENGL 1010, and the prerequisite for a 2000-level English course is a grade of C or better in ENGL 1020. If a transfer student has completed two semesters of composition and has a grade of D in ENGL 1020, then the student must repeat ENGL 1020 before beginning the literature courses. ESL classes do not satisfy the ENGL 1010 and ENGL 1020 communication requirement of the general education core, nor do these courses count toward any degree requirements.

  1. All students must complete six hours of Historical Foundations except those students who are majoring in Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, General and Mechanical Engineering.  If the student has not completed one unit of American History in high school, the student will be required to complete 6 semester hours of Historical Foundations for the deficiency.

HIST 4990-4999 (3 cr.)

HIST upper division electives (9 cr.): select 3 credits each from American, European and World History:

American History Upper Division courses include 3100, 3360, 3390, 3900, 3910, 4010-4310, 4340-4390, 44404449.

European History Upper Division courses include 3550, 3560, 3710, 4510-4690.

World History Upper Division include 3910, 4440-4449, 4620, 4710-4790, 4880

• CJ, POLS, SOC, SW, PHIL, RELS or PSY (Upper Division) Credit: 3.

• ENGL, JOUR, LING, SPCH, THEA or WEBD (Upper Division) Credit: 3.

Complete six hours (three hours from each group)

History Major Foreign Language Requirement (8 credits)

2-3 credits in FREN, GERM, or SPAN (MATH 2110 may substitute for this requirement) and

3 credits in FREN, GERM, or SPAN (Math 1910 may substitute for this requirement) and

3 credits in FREN1020, GERM1020, or SPAN1020 (Math 1920 may substitute for this requirement)

Science - 15 hours

Complete 15 hours (with 8 hours in a Science Sequence from the same discipline)

Fifteen credit hours of Science with at least eight credit hours of General Education Natural Sciences courses completed in the same discipline. GEOL/GEOG may be used together as the same discipline. HIST 3900, HIST 4290 (5290), HIST 4810 (5810) or MATH 4610 (5610) may substitute for three of the 15 total credit hours.

Minor (15 hours) and free electives (9 hours)

Complete a minimum of 15 hours in a selected minor.

A minor is required for History, B.S. - minor must be declared with the Registrar's Office.

Additional free electives are required to complete 120 earned hours.
